Solder Paste Viscosity adjustment in actual production needs to be combined with specific equipment parameters and process requirements; excessively high or low viscosity will affect printing accuracy and soldering reliability.
Under normal circumstances, the viscosity value of Solder Paste is dynamically adjusted according to factors such as the squeegee pressure of the printing machine, the opening size of the stencil, and the component density, to ensure that it can spread evenly during the printing process without causing bridging or printing defects.
During operation, first confirm whether the model of the solder paste meets the process standards, then adjust the proportion of the diluent according to the actual test results. Note that the amount added each time must not exceed 5% of the total weight to avoid imbalance of Flux components caused by excessive dilution.
At the same time, ambient temperature and humidity also have a significant impact on solder paste viscosity. In high-temperature environments, the fluidity of solder paste increases, but it is prone to collapse; low temperatures may reduce its wettability. Therefore, it is necessary to strictly control the workshop temperature and humidity within the range of 25±2℃ and 40%~60%RH.
The storage conditions of solder paste are equally important. Unopened products should be stored in a refrigerated environment below 4℃. After opening, they must be sealed and used up within 24 hours to avoid changes in their physical properties due to oxidation or contamination.
In practical applications, solder paste viscosity adjustment also needs to be comprehensively considered in combination with the Reflow Soldering temperature profile, to ensure that the solder paste can fully melt during the heating process and form good solder joints, avoiding the occurrence of cold solder joints or weak soldering.
For high-density PCB boards or fine-pitch components, the viscosity of the solder paste should be appropriately reduced to improve its filling ability, while for large-size or thick boards, solder paste with higher viscosity should be selected to prevent collapse.
Solder paste viscosity adjustment is a technical task that requires experience accumulation and data support. Only through continuous testing and optimization can the best soldering effect be achieved.
