In the SMT production line, the selection of LED Solder Paste must be combined with specific process requirements. Different models of Solder Paste have significant differences in alloy composition and Flux ratio, and it is necessary to ensure good material compatibility with the PCB surface and LED beads during selection.
In practical applications, the viscosity and particle size of solder paste have a significant impact on the printing effect. If the solder paste is too thin, it will cause collapse after printing, while excessively coarse particles are prone to cause missing printing or bridging. Therefore, matching should be carried out according to the printing press parameters and stencil thickness.
During the soldering process, the setting of the Reflow Soldering temperature profile is a key step. Too fast heating in the preheating zone may damage the internal structure of the LED beads, while insufficient time in the soaking zone cannot fully volatilize the solvent in the flux, which in turn affects the soldering strength.
The storage conditions of solder paste cannot be ignored either. High temperature or humid environment will accelerate its oxidation and performance degradation. It is recommended to store it under refrigerated conditions and use it as soon as possible after opening.
For LED beads with high-density packaging, choosing low-residue solder paste can reduce cleaning difficulty and lower the risk of short circuits caused by residues. However, it is necessary to pay attention to whether its activity is sufficient to ensure the wetting effect during the soldering process.
When purchasing, priority should be given to brand reputation and quality certification to avoid batch defects caused by inferior solder paste. At the same time, maintain communication with suppliers and timely optimize the solder paste formula and process parameters according to production line feedback.
Operators need to regularly check the usage status of the solder paste, including whether the paste is uniform, and whether there is caking or delamination. Once abnormalities are found, stop using it immediately and investigate the cause.
In actual production, the amount of solder paste used also needs to be precisely controlled. Too much is easy to cause splashing or contamination, while too little may lead to insufficient soldering. Therefore, dynamic adjustment is required in combination with printing parameters and inspection results.
