Regular oven temperature testing is not a mere formality; before starting up each shift, the temperature profile of at least one production line must be actually measured using KIC or THERMOFLIGHT. Focus on whether the peak temperature is stably maintained at 235±3℃ and whether the time above liquidus falls within the 60±10 second range. If an abrupt slope change or a collapse of the soak zone plateau is detected, the line must be immediately shut down to investigate issues such as aging heating elements or dust accumulation on fans.
AOI inspection programs cannot remain static. After every line changeover, the light source intensity and algorithm thresholds must be recalibrated using the same set of standard boards. Pay special attention to high-frequency false alarm items such as the solder climb height of 0201 components, reversed polarity of Chip LEDs, and bridging on fine-pitch QFP pins; otherwise, the false rejection rate will surge above 15%, leading to massive manual re-inspection and wasted labor hours.
X Ray sampling frequency is tiered according to customer grade: for consumer electronics orders, one board is sampled every 4 hours, while for automotive-grade orders, this is compressed to one board every 2 hours. The scanning parameters are fixed at 130kV/1.2mA. Focus on whether the wetting angle of BGA bottom solder balls is greater than 75°, whether there are void clusters with a diameter exceeding 0.15mm, and whether there are entire unfused areas on the QFN thermal pad—these defects are completely undetectable by AOI.
When oven temperature fluctuation exceeds ±2℃, the AOI miss rate increases by 3 times. If X Ray detects excessive voids at the same location in two consecutive batches, retroactively check whether the cooling rate in the oven temperature profile for that time period is below 3℃/sec, as an excessively slow cooling rate will cause abnormal thickening of the IMC layer and induce late-stage solder joint brittle fracture.
After exporting data from JiajinYuan's oven temperature tester, the CPK value must be manually compared with that of the same product model from last month. When CPK<1.33, even if the current profile is qualified, a process audit must be initiated. Simultaneously check whether the nitrogen purity has dropped below 99.995% and whether the wear of stencil aperture dimensions exceeds 0.015mm; these details will quietly undermine the foundation of SMT quality control.
AOI alarm images must be archived on the same day, X Ray raw images must be retained for no less than 90 days, and oven temperature records must be stored bound to the order number. In the event of customer complaints, these three types of data can cross-verify whether the issue stems from material variation, equipment drift, or human operation error, avoiding responsibility buck-passing that delays the 8D closure.
No AOI can replace the data rigidity of actual oven temperature measurement, and no X Ray scan can compensate for Flux residue caused by deviations in soak zone time. The essence of SMT quality control is to let data from every process speak and to cross-validate with each other.
