The core advantage of Eutectic Solder lies in the perfect coincidence of its solidus and liquidus temperatures. For example, the melting point of Sn63/Pb37 eutectic solder is a constant 183°C, which means it fully melts the moment the reflow peak temperature is reached, with no wide temperature zone for the transition from solid to liquid. Therefore, during the actual reflow process on the production line, there will be no semi-molten state where some solder has melted while the rest remains solid. This characteristic directly avoids typical failures such as solder joint voids, offset, and cold soldering caused by uneven local wetting.
More Tolerant Temperature Window Control
In practical applications of JiajinYuan eutectic Solder Paste, we found that when the reflow peak temperature is set between 210°C and 225°C and the holding time is maintained at 60 to 90 seconds, the solder joint formation consistency is extremely high. Even with a furnace temperature fluctuation of ±5°C, no obvious solder spikes or bridging will be triggered. This is because eutectic solder does not need to cross the melting range, and its requirements for temperature ramp-up slope and plateau holding accuracy are much lower than those of non-eutectic systems such as Sn62/Pb36/Ag2.
Stronger Adaptability to Fine-Pitch Devices
In the mass soldering of 0.3mm pitch QFN packages, after adopting JiajinYuan eutectic solder, the tombstoning rate has been reduced from the original 1200ppm to below 80ppm. The fundamental reason is that the synchronous melting of the solder balances the force on the pads at both ends, avoiding the component upright phenomenon caused by surface tension imbalance due to one side melting first. Meanwhile, the solder has stable fluidity during its liquid-state residence period, and is less prone to capillary migration between pins.
Balanced Printing and Storage Stability
The metal content of JiajinYuan eutectic solder is strictly controlled at 88.5±0.3%. Combined with the optimized rosin-based Flux system, there is no obvious collapse or edge burr within 4 hours after stencil printing, and it can be used continuously for 12 hours at an ambient temperature of 25°C without stirring. Its viscosity attenuation rate is 40% lower than that of conventional SnAgCu solder paste, which is crucial for the continuous tact time of high-speed SMT lines.
Rework Compatibility Verified on Production Lines
When using a hot air gun to perform local rework on soldered eutectic solder joints, as long as the nozzle temperature is set to 250°C, the distance is maintained at 15mm, and the blowing time is controlled within 8 to 12 seconds, the solder joint can be quickly softened without damaging the copper foil of the PCB pads. This is because eutectic solder solidifies rapidly after leaving the peak temperature, with a narrow heat-affected zone. Under multiple heating cycles, the growth rate of the IMC layer thickness of the solder joint is about one-third slower than that of non-eutectic systems.
