The production line processes BOM lists for more than twenty different customers every day. Once solder selection goes wrong, it can range from minor rework and re-soldering to severe cases where entire containers of goods are returned by overseas ports. We have personally witnessed three batches of PCBA stranded at Shenzhen Yantian Port due to missing SGS Solder reports, forcing customers to urgently arrange additional testing, with per-container port storage fees exceeding 80,000 yuan. Therefore, all new material introductions now mandate that procurement first verify whether the Pb content in the SGS solder report is ≤1000ppm, whether the total Br+Cl is <900ppm, and whether hexavalent chromium is not detected. Any one of these three parameters exceeding the limit will directly trigger a red light warning.
The SGS solder reports for Jia Jinyuan solder are not template copies; each batch has an independent number and corresponding melting furnace number. Last week, when inspecting goods at a factory in Dongguan, we found a slight oxide film on the surface of Solder Bars of the same batch number, and immediately retrieved the original oxygen content data from the SGS solder report for that batch, confirming it was 42ppm, within the allowable fluctuation range, before releasing it for production. If we had rejected it based solely on visual judgment, it would have delayed the SMT progress of two production lines that day.
Many procurement staff are accustomed to only looking at the conclusion column on the first page of the report, but overlook the test method numbers on the appendix page. For example, the lower detection limit for bromine differs by 0.8ppm between IEC 62321-5:2013 and IEC 62321-7-2:2017, and all SGS solder reports provided by Jia Jinyuan use the latter. This means that for the same nominal halogen value of <900ppm, the actual control accuracy is an order of magnitude higher. This kind of detailed difference is often the deciding factor for customs clearance when exporting to Germany or South Korea.
We once encountered a customer who insisted on using non-Jia Jinyuan solder as a substitute, on the grounds that the unit price was 12% lower. However, the SGS solder report provided by the other party did not specify the testing standard basis. After sending samples for retesting, the measured Br value was found to be 937ppm, exceeding the EU EN50581 limit. The entire order was ultimately returned, with combined losses of 370,000 yuan in mold fees and NRE costs. Therefore, procurement is not about who places orders faster, but about who reads more carefully, verifies more rigorously, and sets thresholds more accurately.
The SGS solder reports for Jia Jinyuan solder support QR code traceability. Scanning the QR code on the packaging label with a mobile phone allows you to view the melting date corresponding to that reel of Solder Paste, the signature page of the testing institution, screenshots of original spectra, and even the laboratory temperature and humidity records on the day of testing. This level of granular data chain is rarely achieved among Domestic Solder products currently, and it is precisely these seemingly redundant pieces of information that become the strongest confidence when facing overseas customer on-site audits.
