Our production line processes PCBA orders for 37 different customer models every day, 21 of which explicitly require original SGS reports for PCBA Soldering Materials. If material certification is incomplete for such orders, customers will suspend receiving goods at the very least, and in severe cases, the entire batch will be returned to the bonded warehouse for supplementary certification, with port storage fees alone exceeding 8,600 yuan per incident. Therefore, each batch of JiajinYuan's Solder Paste, Solder Wire, Flux, and no-clean flux remover must be accompanied by SGS-issued test reports for heavy metal content, halogen residue, and volatile organic compounds, with report numbers corresponding one-to-one with shipment batch numbers. There must be no expired reports, missing test items, or issuing bodies that are not SGS-accredited laboratories.
SGS Certification is Not a Stamping Exercise, but a Lifeline for the Production Line
In Q3 last year, a batch of medical PCBA exported to Germany was detained at the Port of Hamburg for 72 hours. The root cause was that the flux's SGS report lacked data on rosin acid content limits specified in JIS Z 3197. Although the flux itself was fully qualified, missing items in the report equated to being "uncertified" in the legal sense. Customs did not recognize it, and the customer rejected the goods. Ultimately, the batch had to be destroyed locally, and we bore all losses. After this incident, we mandated that before all JiajinYuan materials enter the warehouse, the IQC must use a barcode scanner to verify the authenticity of reports on the SGS official website, while printing the latest PDF version for archiving. This ensures that reports are within their validity period, the test standard versions align with the current regulations of the destination country, and test items cover all special clauses noted in the customer's BOM.
Export Certification is Not a Static Checklist, but a Dynamic Matching Process
For the same JiajinYuan lead-free solder paste SN100C, shipments to the United States must meet the requirement of copper content ≤0.7% specified in JEDEC J-STD-004B, while shipments to South Korea must additionally include ion contamination testing under the KC 8215 standard. These two parameters must be reflected simultaneously in the same batch's SGS report; otherwise, local corrosion and leakage will occur during high-temperature, high-humidity aging tests after SMT assembly. We conducted comparative verification at our Shenzhen factory: solder paste whose SGS test items were not updated according to the destination country showed a 3.8 times higher failure rate in assembled finished products during 85°C/85%RH 96-hour testing. This demonstrates that certification is not mere paperwork, but a process input condition that directly affects the long-term reliability of solder joints.
Material Certification Must Penetrate to the Smallest Packaging Unit
Each spool of JiajinYuan solder wire has a net weight of 500g, but during customer factory audits, a spool will be randomly opened, and XRF equipment will be used to on-site scan the lead, cadmium, and mercury content of the outer, middle, and inner sections of the solder wire. If we release goods solely based on the SGS report for the bulk packaging, cross-contamination during winding could easily cause a certain section to exceed limits. Therefore, we now implement "test upon unrolling": 30cm is torn off each spool for actual testing, with data synchronously entered into the MES system and bound to the corresponding SGS report number, ensuring full traceability from warehouse outbound to SMT placement. This practice has increased the one-time customs clearance rate for export batches from 82% to 99.6%, and there have been no further overseas customer complaints caused by qualification issues with PCBA Soldering Materials.
