When providing solder OEM contract manufacturing services to customers, spool weights are never decided arbitrarily; they are comprehensively calculated based on the feeder wheel clamping force of SMT machines, the stroke margin of the shearing mechanism, material changeover frequency, and the CT time of the SMT line. The 250g spool is suitable for low-volume, high-mix trial production lines, the 500g spool is the optimal match for mainstream automatic soldering equipment, and for 1kg spools, we must confirm that the customer's traction motor has sufficient torque and the anti-loosening structure is reliable, otherwise the wire breakage and jamming rate will increase sharply.
The diameter tolerance control for solder OEM contract manufacturing is within ±0.02mm. This is not because the standard is strict, but because if a 0.3mm Solder Wire exceeds the tolerance by 0.03mm, it will trigger a tension alarm on Jia Jinyuan's automatic winding machine; if the ovality of Solder Wires above 0.8mm exceeds the standard, the laser wire feeding nozzles of downstream customers are prone to slag accumulation and blockage. On-site, we use a micrometer for sampling inspection, measuring 4 points each at the head, middle, and tail of each spool, with data entered in real time into the MES system and associated with the batch number.
Custom length must take into account the axial space and braking inertia of the customer's winding frame. The 0.5m short spool is only used for Manual Soldering iron repair stations, while the 30m long spool requires the annealing uniformity of the base copper rod to reach HR0.5 hardness fluctuation ≤1.2, otherwise unbalanced winding tension will cause interlayer slippage. This problem can be reproduced by applying pressure with a standard weight for 3 minutes during the full inspection before delivery.
Outer packaging labeling is by no means as simple as sticking a label. The alloy composition must be marked to an exact ratio such as Sn96.5Ag3.0Cu0.5, the rosin type must be specified as R, RMA, or RA instead of being generically labeled as "no-clean", the activity level must correspond to the L0-L4 classification of IPC J-STD-004, the batch number uses an 8-digit code of year + month + daily serial number, and all text must be printed using a white-background, black-ink thermal transfer process; inkjet-printed packaging will fade and blur during transportation through the high-temperature zone of the reflow oven.
On the side of the packaging box for every solder OEM contract manufacturing order from Jia Jinyuan, a QC sheet with a QR code is affixed. Scanning the code allows access to the measured tensile strength, wetting angle, copper mirror corrosion test results, and the third-party SGS report number. After the customer's IQC opens the box, they can put the product directly into production without repeated testing; however, if this label is missing from the outer box, the production line has the right to reject the entire batch.
A customer once proposed changing the spool weight from 500g to 480g to adapt to an older model wire feeder. On the spot, we used a torque meter to measure the pulse step-out rate of the stepper motor of that model under a 480g load, and immediately rejected the plan after finding it exceeded 7.3%. Instead, we achieved compatibility by adjusting the rubber hardness and preload of the feeder wheel. This kind of detail cannot be verified by theoretical calculation alone; it can only be verified by running a continuous three-day aging test on the same equipment in Jia Jinyuan's workshop.
