焊錫絲用合成助焊劑 VS 松香助焊劑

Synthetic Flux and Rosin Flux serve fundamentally different roles in Solder Wire, each responding to distinct process constraints, material sensitivities, and post-soldering handling requirements, so choosing between them demands careful evaluation of the entire manufacturing chain rather than focusing solely on wetting speed or ease of application.

Rosin Flux, derived from purified pine rosin and often blended with organic activators like adipic or succinic acid, delivers moderate activity that reliably removes thin oxide layers from copper and tin surfaces without aggressive corrosion, which makes it especially suitable for general-purpose electronics assembly where long-term reliability and minimal post-process cleaning are priorities, yet its relatively low thermal stability means it begins decomposing above 320°C and may leave slightly tacky residues if overheated during prolonged iron contact.

Synthetic Flux, by contrast, is a fully engineered formulation based on synthetic resins, halide-free or weakly halogenated activators, and tailored solvents, offering higher and more consistent activation across a broader temperature window from 180°C to 380°C, which supports high-speed automated soldering and challenging alloys like lead-free SAC305, but this enhanced performance comes with tighter control requirements because over-activation can accelerate intermetallic growth or induce dendritic corrosion under humid bias conditions if residues are not thoroughly removed.

The electrical insulation resistance of Rosin Flux residues typically exceeds 1010 Ω after cooling, even without cleaning, due to the non-hygroscopic nature of abietic acid derivatives, whereas Synthetic Flux residues, especially those containing amine hydrohalides, can drop below 108 Ω within 48 hours of exposure to 85% RH unless cleaned with compatible saponifiers or low-residue solvents, making Rosin Flux preferable for hermetically sealed modules or aerospace-grade connectors where cleaning access is physically impossible.

Thermal decomposition onset for Rosin Flux occurs around 315°C, producing volatile terpenes and carbonaceous char that may discolor adjacent PCB substrates or interfere with conformal coating adhesion, while Synthetic Flux formulations are designed to volatilize cleanly above 350°C with minimal smoke or carbon deposit, which improves operator visibility and reduces nozzle clogging in selective soldering nozzles, though some high-activity versions generate trace corrosive gases requiring local exhaust ventilation.

Compatibility with fine-pitch components such as 01005 chips or 0.3mm pitch QFNs favors Synthetic Flux due to its faster oxide penetration and lower surface tension, yet repeated rework on the same pad using Synthetic Flux increases the risk of copper dissolution or pad lifting compared to Rosin Flux, whose gentler chemistry preserves metallization integrity over multiple thermal cycles.

Storage stability also differs markedly: Rosin Flux-based Solder Wire remains usable for up to 24 months in sealed dry nitrogen environments, whereas many Synthetic Flux variants degrade noticeably after 12 months due to slow hydrolysis of imidazole activators or oxidation of resin binders, particularly when exposed to ambient humidity above 60% RH during warehouse storage.

From a procurement standpoint, Rosin Flux Solder Wire is generally 15–25% less expensive per kilogram than equivalent-diameter Synthetic Flux grades, but this apparent cost advantage vanishes if the assembly line requires additional cleaning steps, longer dwell times, or higher scrap rates from insufficient wetting on oxidized leads, so total cost of ownership must include yield impact, rework labor, and inline inspection overhead.

Process validation for Synthetic Flux Solder Wire should always include ion chromatography testing of board residues after soldering, especially before qualifying for automotive AEC-Q200 applications, while Rosin Flux assemblies often pass J-STD-001 cleanliness verification with simple resistivity-of-solvent-extract (ROSE) testing alone, provided no supplemental flux is applied externally during manual touch-up.

Ultimately, the decision hinges not on which flux is objectively superior, but on whether your process tolerates residue retention, how tightly controlled your thermal profiles are, what level of post-soldering inspection capability exists, and whether your supply chain guarantees consistent lot-to-lot rheology and activation depth across both flux types.
