The principle of soldering is to heat and melt the solder, then use the liquid "solder" to wet the substrate, filling the gap between the substrate and the component. Theoretically, the two would be bonded by metallic chemical bonds to form a continuous bond. This phenomenon is just like pouring water on a plate coated with grease, where water can only accumulate in some areas.
